Lady Captain’s Report

10 LC

I would like to report on some Mixed Golf success.

Firstly, Mandy & Jim Sylvester took 2nd Prize with 63 points & Paula & Ade Barrie took 3rd Prize with 62 points at the Mixed Throckmorton Trophy at The Vale GC on 30th June 2019; a 27 hole competition.

Secondly, Penny & Tony Marchant, together with Alison & Mike Rosoman played in the Mixed Team 4Ball AM at Stourbridge GC on 14th July.  They went out first securing a massive 90 points; this score despite a large entry clinched them 1st Prize.

On 8th July, in Sapey’s 4 Clubs & a Putter, Di Hayman with 38 points came 2nd. No mean feat with a handful of clubs!

10th July, 20 ladies played in Lady Captain’s Day. ‘Thank You’ for making my Lady Captain’s Day such a memorable day!  Thank you for all your cards and gifts.  Thanks too to Ade & Tim for all their help: putting the markers out, starting, taking photos.

The team were hopeful of qualification to the semi- finals following their fourth win away at Worcester GC. A loss against a strong Redditch team away left us on equal points with Hollywood who we had beaten earlier in the season. Unfortunately, their game record was better than ours and so Hollywood progress to the semi-finals.

Thank you to all of the ladies who played for a very successful and exciting year. We look forward to next season with confidence.

Quiz Night on 12th July saw 13 teams compete. The winning team was Jim & Tine Sylvester, and Steve & Di Owen. Thanks to Carlie for donating 1st Prize, Chris for setting up the room, Matt for the lovely food & Nathan and the team for running the bar.  Thanks to everyone who supported the event. £244 was collected for the MS Society.

We extended a warm welcome to the new Golf Initiative Ladies over their 7 weeks of lessons with Ashley.  Thank you to Sue Harris and Mandy Sylvester recently helped me take the ladies on the course to play a few holes.  I hope that they continue to enjoy the golf as we would love to welcome them as members.
