Message from the General Manager
As the golf season comes to an end and the evenings are drawing in I have been reflecting on my first summer as General Manager at Wharton Park. While it has been very testing and challenging I have certainly learnt lots, but most of all its been extremely enjoyable, its been great fun getting involved and meeting as many of the members as I can.
Its been a real mix of weather over the last month, but I am pleased to say the course has held up well and we have had lots of compliments about the conditions from not only from you the members but visitors too, so a big Thank You to Brett and his team.
On Friday 27th September Dianne, Paula and the ladies hosted a Macmillan Biggest Coffee Morning which was very well supported and we are pleased to report that they made £500.00 towards a fantastic cause, with a little additional help from Jamie Hillier. Furthermore, thank you for your patience for the last few months but it is with delight that Jamie Hillier our new pro will officially join us in October with an exciting program for the winter.
During the coming months, we have lots to look forward to, not only out on the golf course with the winter works that Brett has reported in his newsletter. After talking to lots of the members and asking for feedback from you our bar will undergo a refurbish starting Monday 7th October. An exciting change for the club with new lights, carpet, a fresh look and a change in our beverage offering. I am sure you will all agree that this is a positive step forward into making this feel more of a members bar. So we hope to see many faces at the grand opening on Saturday 12th October.
Not to forget our Events…
Thank you for those who have supported the club in the events so far this year, to mention just a few for September, Ashleys Thursday evening 12 Holes, The Pro-shop challenge, Youngens V Oldens and the 80’s essentials band night. All great events and highly supported by our members. We appreciate the commitment and enthusiasm to keep these events going so please feel free to pass on your comments for any upcoming events you would like to host or would like to see the club put on.
